Road Rage

Road rage seems pretty common to us.  We often joke about it don’t we?  But getting upset and yelling, “Come on!” when someone cuts you off is very different to real road rage.  Road rage, is an oftentimes deadly problem.  Driver’s get reckless when in the heat of anger.  Many try to make impossible passes, speed, or even try to bump into the driver that upset them.  This can lead to losing control and car accidents.  Remember to take a breath when someone does something that angers you.  Try counting down from ten.  Remember that acting in anger could cost you your life, or the life of someone else on the road.

Road Conditions

We all know the term “dead man’s curve” but we rarely think about how true that term might be.  Sharp, blind turns need to be approached with caution and at a low speed.  You never know what could be on the other side of the curve.  Potholes can also be a real problem in road conditions.  Potholes can be hard to see, and depending on how large they are and the angle your tires hit them at, you could send up blowing a tire.  Now imagine going around a “dead man’s curve” and hitting a pothole.  That could be the ultimate recipe for disaster.  Remember to always keep your eyes and attention on the road, and to drive the speed limit and take caution when approaching curves.

Drowsy Driving

Drowsy driving has become a popular fight recently.  Many freeway signs now alert drivers to the dangers of drowsy driving, as well as have multiple rest stops available for drivers to pull over and close their eyes for a few minutes…or hours.  When you’re fatigued, your attention and your reaction times are lessened and slowed, just like when you’re intoxicated.  Stay safe, and help protect others on the road by not getting in the car when you’re fatigued, or by pulling over and taking a cat nap.

Street Racing

Street racing is often done by the younger crowd.  Mix the invincible ego, inexperience, and high speeds, and it’s a recipe for disaster.  Everyone wants to be the next star of the Fast and the Furious.  Remember that street racing is not safe.  High speeds and ego are a dangerous mixture and should be avoided.  Remember that racing can harm others, not just yourself; bystanders, other drivers, and passengers can all be hurt.

Animals

Animals are a part of nature.  A part that we can’t really avoid when driving.  No matter where you are in the world, you’ll have the threat of animal crossings.  This, again, is another reason to keep your full attention on the road.  You never know when an animal will appear in your path.  This can lead to a collision, or an overcorrection trying to move out of the way.  Running into a large animal like a deer or cow can leave your car total, and you in banged up condition.  Overcorrecting to avoid colliding with an animal can cause you to run into another vehicle on the road, or even flip your vehicle.

Remember to drive safely and smartly.  If you do find yourself in an accident, we hope you think of East End Body Shop in Huntington, West Virginia to help get your car looking brand new.
