Spare Tire

This one is pretty obvious.  The most common car issues have to do with tires.  It’s important to keep a spare tire in your vehicle that is in good condition so if you find yourself stranded on the side of the road due to a tire issue, you’ll be covered.  Your spare tire can be a smaller tire than your normal tires, or it can be a full sized tire.  Either way, if you have a good spare tire with you, you can replace your flat tire and get yourself to either a tire shop or your original destination.  Some cars require a special key to get the tire off the vehicle, make sure that you have this key in your vehicle at all times if that’s the case.

So you have a flat tire, maybe all you need is some Fix-A-Flat rather than spending all the time and energy changing out your tire for the spare.  Plus using a tire inflator and sealer you’re able to skip the hassle of the tools required for changing a tire.  Tire inflator and sealer can give you a quick fix and get you to a tire shop a lot quicker than changing a tire can generally.

Jumper Cables

It’s happened to all of us at one point or another.  We go out and get into our cars only to find it won’t start.  Maybe we left one of our compartment lights on, it wouldn’t be the first time.  Or maybe the battery is just plain out of juice.  Having jumper cables in your car will allow you to siphon some power from another car and allow you to get yourself home or to a shop to replace your battery.  Don’t rely on being able to get ahold of someone to come rescue you, you might be dependent on the kindness of strangers to jump start your car, and they might not be carrying jumper cables.  Leaving their generosity irrelevant.

Car Manual

If you purchased a new car, there’s really no reason you shouldn’t have a manual in your car.  If you purchased a used car, sometimes the manual might not be available.  It’s important to get yourself a copy of your cars manual.  Inside of it will contain all the information that you need if you run into a problem.  This will tell you what different indicator lights mean as well as the standards of your vehicle.

Tire Pressure Gauge

You should check your tires every time you get into your vehicle, making sure none of them look flat or like they are losing air.  Keeping your tires at the recommended tire pressure can help you with handling and improved fuel economy.  If you see your tires looking a bit low, check your tires to see what the recommended PSI is, and then check them with a tire pressure gauge to make sure they are full.  If not, head down to your local gas station to fill them up.  If a tire has lost pressure it is important to check for nails, screws, or any other problem that might be causing it to leak.
